Union Health Ministry should reopen the Vaccine producing PSUs. Regarding this Dr.G.R.Ravindranath General Secretary DASE has issued the following press statement.
After closing the vaccine producing public sector units situated at Coonnoor ,Kasouli and Chennai, by the union health ministry there is acute shortage of various vaccines in government hospitals through out the country .Giving Injection .T.T is also restricted in government PHCs in Tamilnadu .The cost of the vaccines of the multinational private companies are very high .It will affect the prevention of various vaccine preventable diseases and increase the mortality and morbidity .It will harm the public health .The WHO has offered help to improve the vaccine producing technology of these three PSUs . So, the union health ministry should take immediate steps to re open the PSUs.
