Thiruvallur District branch welcomes TN Govt decision to give vaccinations at PHCs.

Doctors Association For Social Equality’s Thiruvallur dt committee meeting was held on 4.5.08 in T.Nagar ,Chennai .Dr.kamalraj presided over the meeting.District secretary Dr.Elanchelian,Treasurer Dr.Balakrishnan ,State general secretary Dr.G.R.Ravindranath addressed the gathering. The following resolutions have been passed.

The deaths of 4 children at Thiruvallur district sent shock waves across the country.To avoid such incidents in future our immunization programme should be completely changed.All precautions should be taken during immunization. Immunisation shoud be done in the presence of a qualified doctor. Essential life saving drugs must be available to treat medical emergencies like anaphylaxis,allergies and toxic shock syndrome. Suitable steps should be taken to avoid contamination in the vaccines at all level .Vaccines should be safely kept in cold storage at stipulated temperature .Single dose vials alone should be used to avoid contam ination.The vaccines’ safety and potency should be tested in a standard laboratory before distribution. Doctors should be properly trained to treat acute medical emergencies .In this regard the Tamilnadu govern ment has taken some appreciable steps.DASE welcomes that.Ambulances should be provided to all PHCs and government hosp itals.

More number of doctors should be appointed in PHCs.If possible doc tors should be appointed in sub centers too.Well equipped mobile clinics should be introduced in more numbers.Doctors should be appointed sepa rately for that. Dr.Muthulakshmi reddy maternity fund should be distributed through the revenue department.

The NGOs and school admini strations should not be allowed to carry out immunization programmes with out proper permission .

TN Govt should take necessary steps to regularize the services of contract doctors who are all working under Time scale of pay to enable them to go for PG studies under service Quota.

The following doctors have been elected as new office bearers.Kamalraj president,Vanitha Malar and Balakrishnan vice presidents,Elanchezhian General secretary,Maheshwaran and Manimaran Asst secretaries,Dhinakar as Treasurer.Dr.Balakrishnan delivered vote of thanks.
