DASE urges the TN Government not to allow DNB PG courses in medical college hospitals.

Regarding this Dr G.R.Ravindranath General Secretary of DASE has issued the following press statement.

Tamil Nadu Government has decided to start DNB PG medical courses in government medical college hospitals .For that admission notification has been given in some dailies, and in Tamil Nadu government health web site .Starting DNB PG courses in government medical college hospitals would affect the regular PGs academically. It would be against the Chennai high court’s order issued in the year 2004 stating that the government should not allow DNB PG courses in medical college hospitals. There is no transparent admission process, no proper CET .Admissions are made through qualifying examination instead of competitive examination which would lead to malpractices, irregularities, corruption and favoritism. There is no single window system and counseling. Neither communal reservations nor reservation for government doctors are provided in these seats .The central health ministry is promoting DNB courses with various motives and for the corporate hospitals’ interests .More over the central health ministry wants to curtail the rights of the MCI. Instead of starting DNB courses the TN government should try to start more PG courses, with proper approval of the MCI. DASE requests the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to take immediate steps in this matter.

Yours Truly,
(Dr.G.R.Ravindranath)
General Secretary, DASE.
