Ensure safe Vaccination .Vaccination deaths investigation should be free and fair. DASE demands.

Regarding this Dr.G.R.Ravindranath General Secretary DASE has issued the following press statement.

The deaths of 4 children at Thiruvallur district sent shock waves across the country.Due to this incident our immunization programme and government hospitals have lost the hope of the people.It will affect the immunization programme of the country.Vaccine preventable diseases and their morbidity and mortality will increase.It will affect the public health and economic development of our country.The central investigation team’s inve stigation is not satisfactory.So, a neutral team should be allowed to invst igate the cause of death and incident in a free and fair manner.The true cause of death should be found and the report should be made available for the public.

To avoid such incidents in future our immunization programme should be completely changed.All precautions should be taken during immune ization.Immunisation shoud be done in the presence of a qualified doctor. Essential life saving drugs must be available to treat medical emergencies like anaphylaxis,allergies and toxic shock syndrome. Ambul ances and oxygen cylinders should be provided .Doctors should be properly trained to treat the acute medical emergencies .In this regard the Tamilnadu govern ment has taken some appreciable steps.The NGOs and school admini strations should not be allowed to carry out immunization programmes with out proper permission .







Suitable steps should be taken to avoid contamination in the vaccines at all level .Vaccines should be safely kept in cold storage at stipulated temp erature .Single dose vials alone should be used to avoid contam ination.The vaccins’ safety and potency should be tested in a standard laboratory before distribution .

Ambulances should be provided to all PHCs and government hosp itals.More number of doctors should be appointed in PHCs.If possible doc tors should be appointed in sub centers too.Well equipped mobile clinics should be introduced in more numbers.Doctors should be appointed sepa rately for that.Dr.Muthulakshmi reddy maternity fund should be distributed through the revenue department.The center and state governments should allocate more funds for the immunization programmes.
