MADURAI: The students' wing of the Doctors' Association for Social Equality (DASE) staged a demonstration here on Friday protesting against the Supreme Court stay on quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in higher educational institutions.

It demanded that the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs must continue in the interest of deserving students in society who wanted to join educational institutions such as IITs and IIMs.

P. Rangasamy, State president of the students' wing, who addressed the members, urged the Supreme Court to reconsider the interim order passed on Thursday.
