Regarding this Dr.G.R.Ravindranath General secretary of Indian Doctors for Peace and Development Tamilnadu Chapter and R.Thirumalai AISF State secretary has jointly issued the following press statement.

Due to the ethinic problem prevaling in Srilanka for a very long time the Ta mil pepople of Srilanka are suffering very much .They are not having basic hu man rights and political rights.More than 2.5 lakh Tamil people have been killed due to genocide .Ethnic discrimination and sinhaleese chauvinism has led to blo od shed and innumerable losses to the common Tamil and Sinhala peop le.More than 3 lakh Tamil people are left as refugees in Vavunia in their own mother land without food, safe drinking water,shelter,clothes and medical aid and medici nes. The sufferings of the Tamil people cannot be expressed in wo rds.The Sinhaleese political parties are using Sinhaleese chauvinism for electoral and political gains. The Rajapaksa Government has unilaterally withdrawn from the ceasefire and has leashed out a war against the Tamil people.Instead of fin ding a peaceful po litical solution to the ethnic problem the Srilakan government has engaged in a full fledged war against Tamil.The Indian government is provi ding military, te chnical and other aids to the the Srilankan army .IDPD and AISF stongly conde mns the Srilankan and Indian governments attitudes towards the minority Tamil pepople of Srilanka .


To urge immediate ceasefire and end the armed conflict,to urge the Indian gov ernment to stop military aid to the srilankan army and to pressurise the srilankan government to resolve the ethnic issue politically by peaceful dialogue the IDPD Tamilnadu Chapter and All India Students' Federation Tamilnadu state coun cil(AISF ) jointly organised a seminar in Chennai on 27.9.08 evening at Seng undhar Mahall ,Vadapalani .IDPD state President Dr.V.Jeevanadham presided over the seminar.AISF state Assistant secretary P.stalin Mahender Sing welc omed the gathering.IDPD state general secretary Dr.G.R.Ravindranath proposed the resolutions.CPI state secretary D.Pandian,International Tamil People Feder ation president Pazha.Nedumaran,Viduthali Chiruthaikal party General secretary S.Ravikumar MLA,Tamildhesa Pothu Udaimai party leader P.Maniyarasn, Peri yar Dravidar Kazhakam General Secretary Viduthalai.Rajendran,CPI(ML) State council member A.S.Kumar,TamilDesiya Viduthalai Eyakka President Thiyagu, AITUC Chennai District Honourary President S.Ezhumalai,AIYF state Assistant secretary P.L.Prabhaharan,AISF state secretary R.Thirumalai,NFIW state Assis tant Secretary G.Manjulla addressed the Seminar.AISF state Assistant secretary K.Ravikumar delivered vote of thanks.
