TIRUNELVELI: The Doctors’ Association for Social Equality (DASE) decided to observe fast in Chennai on September 14 to press their demands.
The Tirunelveli district general council meeting of DASE, which met here on Sunday with State president of the orgainsation Aram in the chair, said the services of government doctors, who were made permanent after serving on contract basis, should be regularised from the date of their appointment so that they could get admission to the postgraduate programmes.
Examination should be immediately conducted for the doctors working in government hospitals on temporary basis.
When the recommendations of Sixth Pay Commission are implemented in the State, the Tamil Nadu Government should fix the pay-scale now being followed in Karnataka for government doctors.
Besides taking stringent action against the nurses of Vasudevanallur primary health centre, who are campaigning against the national vaccination programme, the doctors should not be held responsible for deaths in PHCs.
The meeting demanded that taluk headquarters hospitals be converted into Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care Centres with specialists and blood banks.
