Regarding this Dr.G.R.Ravindranath General Secretary DASE has issued the following press statement.

• National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Tamilnadu Director Selvi Apoorva IAS insults and humiliates doctors in various meetings.Doctors are very much irritated and depressed about her attitude . Tamilnadu Government should take appropriate action against her .
• Dr.Santhana Mari of Mullakadu PHC in Thoothukkudi district was threatened by some health inspectors .Tamilnadu government should take action against those culprits also.
• Tamilnadu government should provide protection to doctors working in PHCs ,and an act should be brought like Andhra Pradhesh Government to protect the life and properties of doctors.
• Services of Doctors appointed on contract basis and now working under time scale of pay should be regularized from the date of joining Salary and stipend of doctors and medical students should be increased .
• All India Quota System and DNB PG medical system should be abolished .Temporary doctors’ services should be regularized . The Controversial compulsory service which would abolish the job opportunities of doctors should not be implemented .
• Medical Education and Medical care should not be privatized and commercialized.Paying wards should not be opened in Government Hospitals.Dr.Muthu Lakshmi Reddy maternity fund should be distributed through revenue department.

To urge the state and central governments to implement the above demands, DASE organized a demonstration in Chennai nearer to Memorial Hall on 24.2.08 Sunday Evening.

• DASE state president Dr.D.Aram presided over the demonstration in the presence of Doctors P.Dorai ,R .Sundar , M .Arul Nambi,Sivakumaran.
• Dr.T.Mohan state treasurer delivered the inagural address .
• Dr.G.R.Ravindranath General Secretary delivered the concluding address .A large number of doctors across the state participated in the demonstration.
